Minelab EQUINOX 800 Coils, Accessories, Parts & Manual

The Minelab EQUINOX 800 is a Multi-IQ simultaneous multi-frequency metal detector with 5, 10, 15, 20 and 40 kHz single frequencies, Park, Field, Beach and Gold modes, and waterproofing to 3 m (10 ft). Minelab no longer makes the EQUINOX 800; the current EQUINOX models are the EQUINOX 700 and EQUINOX 900. Our EQUINOX 800 page is for owners of the detector. It holds the EQX coils, coil covers, WM 08 wireless module, headphones, batteries, chargers, shafts, armrest parts and manuals that fit the EQUINOX 800.

Minelab EQUINOX 800 Coils, Accessories and Parts

The Minelab EQUINOX 800 runs Multi-IQ simultaneous multi-frequency or one of five single frequencies (5, 10, 15, 20 and 40 kHz), with Park, Field, Beach and Gold modes and eight custom search profiles. It is waterproof to 3 m (10 ft) and runs on an internal lithium-ion battery. Minelab has discontinued the EQUINOX 800, but the detector still takes the same EQX coils, covers and many of the parts Minelab makes for the EQUINOX range. Our EQUINOX 800 collection gathers what fits the EQUINOX 800 so owners can keep it working: coils, audio, power, shafts, armrest hardware and reference manuals.

The current EQUINOX models are the EQUINOX 700 and the EQUINOX 900. The EQUINOX 900 is the model we recommend in place of the EQUINOX 800, and the table further down shows what changed. For a 2D target ID map, Minelab's step up is the MANTICORE.

Coils That Fit the Minelab EQUINOX 800

The EQUINOX 800 ships with the EQX 11 11 inch Double-D coil, and Minelab's manual notes that all EQX Double-D accessory coils share the same detection pattern. The Minelab EQX coils that fit the EQUINOX 800 are the EQX 11 11 inch round, the EQX 06 6 inch round for trash and tight spots, and the EQX 15 15 x 12 inch elliptical for open ground. The EQX 15 also comes as a coil and lower rod kit. Each Minelab coil comes with its coil cover, and replacement EQX 06, EQX 11 and EQX 15 covers are in this collection, along with coil supports, coil washers and the coil hardware kit.

For other sizes, we carry Coiltek NOX coils made for the EQUINOX, from a 10 x 5 inch elliptical up to 18 inch.

Headphones and Wireless Audio for the EQUINOX 800

The EQUINOX 800 offers three audio routes: wired 3.5 mm (1/8 inch) headphones on the socket with its waterproof cap, Bluetooth and aptX Low Latency headphones, and Minelab's Wi-Stream link to the WM 08 wireless audio module. Minelab's manual gives the latency of each: about 17 ms for the WM 08, 40 ms for aptX Low Latency and 100 ms for standard Bluetooth. Lower latency means the sound arrives closer to where the target really is under the coil. Up to four WM 08 modules can be paired at once.

For wireless audio, the Minelab ML 80 headphones use aptX Low Latency. For wired use, this collection holds the Minelab 3.5 mm wired headphones, a 1/4 inch to 1/8 inch adapter cable and DetectorPro and Killer B headphones made for the EQUINOX. For underwater audio, Minelab specifies its 3.5 mm waterproof headphones. Minelab's manual also says the detector must not be used underwater while charging or connected to a power bank.

Batteries, Chargers and Power

Minelab rates the EQUINOX 800's internal lithium-ion battery at about 12 hours of typical use, with a full charge from flat taking about 4 hours on a high-capacity charger (more than 1.7 A at 5 V). If a battery no longer holds a charge, this collection has the EQUINOX 600/800 replacement battery and the battery bung. For charging, we carry the Minelab magnetic USB charging cable, the 2-way USB car charger and the 4-way universal AC charger. Our EQUINOX charging guide covers charge time and battery care.

Shafts, Armrests, Replacement Parts and Manuals

Minelab parts for the EQUINOX 600 and 800 in this collection include the complete 3-piece shaft kit, the upper shaft assembly, the 24 inch lower shaft, twistlock assemblies and washers, shaft springs and balls, O-rings, the armrest kit, armrest, stand, foam pad and straps, the headphone cap kit and tether, the coil cable strap and the 5-pack screen protector. Carbon fiber shafts and lower rods from Detect-Ed, Anderson, Steve's Detector Rods, CKG and Detecting Innovations Tele-Knox are listed for the EQUINOX 600 and 800, along with protective control box covers, keypad stickers and carry bags. Our EQUINOX 600 and 800 accessories guide walks through the common upgrades.

The digital EQUINOX 600/800 instruction manual and Getting Started Guide, plus EQUINOX handbooks by Andy Sabisch and Clive James Clynick, are in the collection for owners who want the full settings reference. EQUINOX 800 vs. EQUINOX 900: What Changed

The EQUINOX 900 keeps the EQUINOX 800's Multi-IQ, Gold mode, recovery speed range and Iron Bias range. It adds a 4 kHz single frequency, a finer 119 segment target ID, a deeper 5 m (16 ft) waterproof rating, the EQX 06 coil in the box, and it ships with ML 85 low-latency headphones. The same EQX coils fit both detectors.

What is the difference between the Minelab EQUINOX 800 and EQUINOX 900?

The difference between the Minelab EQUINOX 800 and the EQUINOX 900 comes down to three things. Both run Multi-IQ simultaneous multi-frequency with Park, Field, Beach and Gold modes. The EQUINOX 900 has 119 target ID segments (-19 to 99) against 50 on the EQUINOX 800 (-9 to 40), and is waterproof to 5 m (16 ft) instead of 3 m (10 ft). The EQUINOX 900 comes with the EQX 11 and EQX 06 coils and ML 85 wireless headphones, and both models take the same EQX coils. Our EQUINOX 800 vs 900 post covers the details.

Can the Minelab EQUINOX 800 find gold nuggets?

Yes, the Minelab EQUINOX 800 can find gold nuggets: it has a dedicated Gold mode with two search profiles. For prospecting in heavily mineralized goldfields, we recommend a dedicated gold detector such as the GOLD MONSTER 1000, a 45 kHz VLF detector, or the GPX 6000 pulse induction detector. EQUINOX 800 owners looking at a current multi-frequency model will find a Gold mode on the EQUINOX 900. See all gold detectors.
